Understanding Zabihah Halal Certification: What It Means for Your Table
If you've ever wondered what sets Zabihah halal meat apart from meat that's simply labeled "halal" on a package, you're not alone. It's one of the questions we get asked most often, so we wanted to walk through it here.
What Zabihah Means
Zabihah refers to the traditional Islamic method of slaughter, performed by hand by a trained Muslim, with a swift cut to the throat that severs the jugular veins, carotid arteries, and windpipe while leaving the spinal cord intact. The animal's blood is fully drained, and the name of Allah is invoked before each cut.
Why It's Different From Mechanical "Halal" Processing
Some large-scale processors use mechanical blades and stun animals before slaughter, then label the output "halal" based on minimal criteria. At Natural Halal Meats, every animal is hand slaughtered by a known Muslim, not a machine, and we don't cut corners on the details that observant customers care about most.
Pure and Lawful, From Farm to Table
Beyond the method of slaughter, we also pay attention to how the animals are raised: no unnecessary antibiotics or hormones, and natural feed. For us, "halal" isn't just a label, it's a full standard that starts well before the animal ever reaches our facility.
